HSBC Direct Online Savings Rate 1.65%APY

Maintaining an online savings account for the most part helps save the environment. Since online banking transactions are done without paper it helps  save trees which in turn saves the environment.

HSBC Direct is one among many banks offering online banking. Currently, the bank is offering an online savings rate of 1.65%APY that requires only a minimum opening deposit of $1.00. The bank also doesn’t charge any monthly fees and there is no minimum deposit requirement.

You can open an online account in minutes but note that rates are subject to change. The current rate of 1.65%APY is accurate as of April 1, 2009.

HSBC Direct is FDIC insured so money should be safe.

Update 1: HSBC Direct online savings account rate as of June 13, 2009 is down by 0.10%APY. It was 1.65% in April and is now 1.55%APY.

Update 2. HSBC Direct online savings account rate as of August 2, 2009 stays the same at 1.55%APY.
